President William Ruto extended his congratulations to Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon for her remarkable achievement in breaking the women's mile world record at the Monaco Diamond League.
He also praised Kipyegon also complimented Commonwealth Games 100-meter champion Ferdinand Omanyala, who won his first 100-meter event in the Diamond League after finishing in 9.92 seconds in Monaco, for surpassing the Miles world record.
President William Ruto congratulated Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon on her achievement in breaking the women’s mile World Record at the Monaco Diamond League.
She ran the mile in 4:07.64, breaking Sifan Hassan’s four-year-old record of 4:12.33 in the women’s mile.
She is the first woman to break 4:10 in the mile, and she has already broken three World Records in 2023.
Ruto stated that the country honors her for being one of Kenya’s best athletes.
“Another World record has fallen. Faith Kipyegon’s peerless talent, supreme tenacity, and tremendous athleticism have lit up the world again this time in the 1-Mile Monaco Diamond League,” said President Ruto.
Ruto also congratulated Commonwealth Games 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala who won his first 100m race in the Diamond League after clocking 9.92 seconds in Monaco.
“An amazing display of power, speed, and character by Ferdinand Omanyala to grab his first Diamond League win. It is also Kenya’s first-ever victory in the 100m in this competition. Congratulations” said the head of state.
