Coach Sarah Agola, has unveiled the U18 girls’ national rugby sevens team to represent Kenya in the upcoming Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago from August 4th to 11th, 2023.
The Young Lionesses' players will compete against five other potent teams across the Commonwealth.
They will compete against several teams, such as the hosts Trinidad & Tobago, Canada, Wales, Australia, and Fiji.
The round-robin style of the rugby sevens competition will run from August 6 through August 8.
As a result, the teams that finished first and second in their respective pools will fight for the gold medal, while teams that finished third and fourth will compete for the bronze medal.
The final two clubs in the standings will contest the fifth spot.
The Kenya U18 Women’s National Sevens Squad is a blend of talent and determination, and it comprising of Linda Kagwiria (St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale), Salma Akoth (St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale), Marvel Laura (TTC Mombasa), Jackline Kagwiria (St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale), Sharon Iminza (Eregi Girls High School), Claudia Muhavi (Eregi Girls High School), Brenda Ogembo (Eregi Girls High School), Bernice Bryanzi and (Eregi Girls High School).
Others include; Ann Namunyak (Hidden Talent Academy), Janet Oyaro (Hidden Talent Academy), Mary Mwende (Oolooa Secondary School), Margaret Wangui (PCEA Ngong High School) and Mitchelle Alivitsa (Hidden Talent Academy).
