Liverpool and Brighton have agreed a British record deal of £111 million for midfielder Moises Caicedo.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will now match that price after Brighton rejected a series of bids from the Blues.

Brighton had set a demand in excess of £100 million for Caicedo, which they believed would not be met.

However, Liverpool has already done so, allowing the Ecuador international to go for a medical review.

Caicedo is now free to travel for a medical in Liverpool on Friday, according to Skysports, with all the procedures of a transfer now in motion.

Following the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, Jurgen Klopp's team is looking for midfield reinforcements.

Chelsea also requires midfield reinforcements after losing Mason Mount, N'Golo Kanté, Jorginho, Ruben Lofus-Cheek, and Mateo Kovacic this season.

On Sunday, Chelsea will face Liverpool.

Caicedo joined Brighton in 2021 for £4.5 million from Independente Delle Valle.
