Marcell Jacobs has ended his relationship with the coach that drove him to his astonishing Olympic gold medal in the 100 meters, the Italian sprinter declared less than a year before the Games in Paris.
Jacobs told the Gazzetta Dello Sport on Tuesday that he was no longer working with Paolo Camossi ahead of next summer's Games in Paris, where he will defend two of the most surprising gold medals in Olympic history.
Jacobs, 28, also won gold in the 100m relay in Tokyo three years ago during Italy's historic athletic summer.
"We made Italian and world athletics history, but life has different stages, and we've realized it's time to part ways," Jacobs said.

"I realized I needed to make drastic changes... I want to be in a new environment, find athletes who will train with me, push me, and most all, assist me with the more tough task of winter training."
Jacobs shifted from long jump to sprinting full time in 2019 with Camossi, a former indoor triple jump world champion, and in May 2021, became only the second Italian to break the 10-second barrier in the 100m.
He made history that summer with his two Olympic gold medals, and since then, he has been crowned world indoor 60m champion and European 100m champion despite being handicapped by recurring muscular ailments in the previous two seasons.
Jacobs, who has competed in five 100m events in 2023 without winning or breaking 10 seconds, says he has yet to decide on a new coach but will leave Rome, where he has been based.
"I'm considering all possibilities." "I have many ideas, but I need to put them into action," he explained.
"It's a fresh start to rediscover Tokyo's Marcell."
