On Monday, Liverpool's defender Kostas Tsimikas secured a new long-term contract with the Premier League club.

While Tsimikas initially agreed to a five-year deal upon his transfer from Olympiakos in 2020, the specific duration of the 27-year-old's new contract has not been revealed.

"I feel very glad to be here to extend my contract. I feel like all the sacrifices I did and other things, the work I put in, everything pays off," Tsimikas told Liverpool's website.

"But this keeps me fully motivated for the rest. As I've said in many, many interviews, this team has many, many things to achieve all together and I wanted to be from the first minute a part of it."

Primarily filling in for Liverpool's primary left-back Andrew Robertson, Greek international Tsimikas has amassed 63 appearances and delivered 12 assists since his arrival at Anfield in an £11-million deal.

In the current season, he has made a single Premier League appearance as a substitute against Bournemouth in August and was in the starting lineup for last week's Europa League triumph against LASK in Austria.
