On Thursday, Roma under Jose Mourinho suffered their third Serie A loss of the year, losing 4-1 at Genoa, dropping the capital team just above the drop zone.

With five points in six games, former Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Chelsea coach Mourinho is off to the worst start of his managerial career.

Mourinho states, "We started this game poorly, we responded to equalize, and then we lost Diego (Llorente), and that changed the face of the game, our organization."

We need key players like Chris Smalling, and we need more stability of last season, to name just a few.

"We need to leave this circumstance with this group, which has both strengths and weaknesses."

After Albert Gudmundsson gave the northwestern port side the lead after five minutes, Roma was in trouble. However, after 22 minutes, Bryan Cristante's equalizer got them back into the game.

However, Genoa came out swinging after the break, and Mateo Retegui scored with a half-volley following an excellent combination between Gudmundsson and Morten Thorsby.

After 74 minutes, Thorsby added a third, and Junior Messias added a fourth through a weak Roman defense seven minutes later.

After Genoa scored their fourth goal, Francesco Totti, a former player for Roma, fled the Luigi-Ferraris stadium.

The Mourinho team is battling to stay in the top tier while aiming to return to the Champions League next season.

With five points from six games, Roma is in 16th position, 10 points behind Inter Milan for the lead, and only two points ahead of Udinese, now in 18th.

Genoa jumped to 11th place with seven points after their second win of the season.

"We played a fantastic match with incredible bravery and technical skill. According to Genoa coach and former Italian international Alberto Gilardino, this team is very proud and motivated.

Monza and Bologna drew 0-0 earlier, and Frosinone and Fiorentina also tied 1-1.
