Kenyans have called out Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi to solve the mess he created at Moi University after a video showed residents begging for forgiveness from former Moi University VC Laban Ayiro, who was chased from the institution.
A viral video seen by Waza showed community leader Richard Tarus recognizing Ayiro as the most effective leader Moi University has ever seen.
Tarus apologized formally on behalf of the locals for not recognizing his merits throughout his reign.

“I want to apologize on behalf of the locals to Laban Ayiro. He was the right person to be elected as Moi University’s Vice Chancellor. We ask for forgiveness without any fear,” said Tarus.
Ayiro, initially appointed as acting VC in 2015 by then Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, faced challenges during his subsequent three-year term.
North Rift leaders, including figures like former Elgeyo Marakwet governor Alex Tolgos, MP Oscar Sudi, and Senator Jackson Mandago, contested Ayiro's appointment, advocating for their preferred candidate, Prof. Isaac Kosgey.

Ayiro encountered hurdles throughout his succeeding three-year term after being appointed acting VC by then Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i in 2015.
North Rift leaders challenged Ayiro's appointment, including former Elgeyo Marakwet governor Alex Tolgos, MP Oscar Sudi, and Senator Jackson Mandago, and advocated for their preferred choice, Prof. Isaac Kosgey.
At the time, the cabinet secretary of education, Dr. Fred Matiangi, tried to defend his decision to appoint Ayiro, but the locals could hear none.
Local leaders are now clamoring for the resignation of the incumbent VC, Isaac Kosgey, alleging alleged poor administration and leadership at the university.
"The Vice-Chancellor must return home." "There is alcohol and drug abuse at Moi University, and the man in charge of leading the university can't be bothered to put an end to it, and we have heard reports that he is also a drunkard," a local stated.
Ayiro took over as VC at Daystar University in 2019 after leaving Moi University. On November 24, Ayiro received the Best Vice Chancellor in Kenya award at the Uongozi Awards.
