During the memorial service at Chepkorio showgrounds in Keiyo South, Asenath Rotich revealed they were due to marry in April 2024.

“We have been planning for a big day to tie our knots in a colourful wedding ceremony in April 2024, but God’s plans are greater. I will still make my vows of love even in your rest,” Rotich tearfully recounted.

Rotich paid tribute to the late Kiptum, calling him 'the best husband and father.'

“You have been the best husband and father to our children. I will clearly miss your company. Till we meet again my love. Dance with the angels,” she said.

“I promise to gather my strength for the sake of our children. I hope in the spirit world you will inspire me to stand as a pillar to our children,” Rotich went on.

Kiptum died in a horrific road accident on February 11 when his car went off the road and collided with a tree.

Kiptum's Rwandan coach, Gervais Hakizimana, 36, was also killed in the incident and was laid to rest in Kigali, Rwanda's capital, on Wednesday.
