The MPs in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition, who oppose the Affordable Housing Bill 2023 passed by the National Assembly this week, have the support of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
According to Kalonzo, the leaders of Azimio demonstrated their understanding of public opinion by pointing out that most Kenyans were impacted by what they perceived to be excessive taxation by the Kenya Kwanza government.
Speaking at Maiyu Wanzili's funeral, the mother of former Mwingi County Council chairman Musyoka Wa Maiyu, the head of Wiper, said that as Azimio, they will keep raising awareness of the issue among Kenyans nationwide.

"Honourable MPs, you made us proud… I'm your party leader. Mlionekana pale mkapigwa picha mmekasirika because you have been on the side of the Kenyan people over this high taxation...round two of impossible taxes...mzigo ambao wananchi hawatavumilia, nyinyi mkatoka mkijuwa pengine wao watapitisha tu."
He added: "We want to see similar commitment at every county...And if you're going to waste more of our time, we will call you out... we'll call you out...tutawaita na tutawataja."
