Before the June Madaraka Day celebrations, the government has set aside funds to construct urban roads and renovate Bungoma town's Matulo Airstrip, according to Kipchumba Murkomen, Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport.
Speaking in Bungoma Town following a consultative gathering with several local leaders, Murkomen stated that the development was a component of the County's ongoing effort to build more than 600 km of roads.
Reiterating the government's commitment to the project, the CS assured that the roads will be completed well in advance of the June festivities, ensuring seamless operations and a smooth celebration.
"Our priority is to ensure that people can access the stadium, state lodge, parking areas, and the airport… We value your cooperation and understanding during this time. Measures are in place to resolve infrastructure problems in Bungoma," Murkomen stated, acknowledging the audience's role in the project's success.

He continued by saying that the region will be opened up and connected to neighboring counties by the Kenya National Highway Authority (KENHA), Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KERRA), and Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA).
Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula commended President William Ruto for selecting Bungoma to host the function.
"We want Bungoma to feel as part of Kenya Kwanza's success," Wetangula said.
