Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has expressed his support for Azimio Leader Raila Odinga’s candidature for African Union Commission Chair.

He spoke after spending the better part of his Sunday afternoon at Odinga and his wife, Mama Ida’s home in Karen.

Kuria and Raila have shared perspectives on various AU initiatives, including the Africa Continental Free Trade Area, Africa 50, Agenda 2063, and the ongoing conversation around converting the Kenya School of Government into the Africa School of Government as an AU Affiliate.

Kuria also gave Raila a live goat as a gift. Kuria said they called with Raila to African and global leaders to lobby for support.

This comes a few days after Angola's ambassador to Kenya Sianga Abilio hinted that the country will support Raila's candidacy.

The President of Guinea Bissau has also agreed to support Kenya’s candidature for the position of AUC Chairperson.

On Thursday, President Ruto secured Ghana’s support for Raila’s bid during his State visit. Kuria was accompanied by his mother, Teresia, his wife Joyce, and a group of friends.

Raila is eyeing the seat to replace incumbent AU Commission chair Moussa Faki Mahamat of Chad for the elections scheduled for February 2025.
