Aoko opened up about her experience in police custody in the recent past following her arrest. Aoko was taken into custody after posting controversial statements on X, which authorities claimed were made in bad faith.
She was detained at Muthaiga Police Station from Friday until Monday, when she was released on cash bail after appearing in court.
Aoko disclosed that she slept in the Muthaiga cells for three nights in a post on her X account. She described how the area was overrun with mosquitoes.

No mattress. I used to wear my jacket and try to sleep by all means. They thought they were breaking me, they hardened me. My crime? Speaking truth," she posted.
