Following a grisly road accident in Naivasha yesterday, the Pwani University fraternity and the entire country are mourning the deaths of students and lecturers.

"It's heartbreaking that people who were healthy and kicking before the journey died in this manner. It's sad for parents who send their children to school to learn.

We thank God that some people survived the accident and are currently being treated at a hospital in Naivasha."

One of the Pwani University bus accident survivors described the events leading up to the accident. He claims the driver may have anticipated the accident, so he asked everyone to buckle up. The bus then lost control and veered off the road.

May the souls of the fallen comrades rest in peace, and may their families find comfort during these trying times.

As reported, the bus transported more than 30 students to Eldoret to compete in sports. After the crash, the pupils were also filmed helping their fellow students from the wreckage. Those with serious injuries were also transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

Immediately after 11 a.m., the bus clashed with a 14-seater matatu before flipping over.

As per initial reports, the bus broke down, causing the accident. It's, however, yet to be confirmed.

After the incident, police and rescue personnel arrived to reestablish traffic flow on the highway, which had become clogged.

Motorists on the route were also cautioned as they approached the area.
