The Mara Elephant project team has launched an intense aerial search for a missing colleague who perished in the Mara River alongside Dennis Mwangi, a fuel lorry driver, some eight days ago.

Marc Groose's support in air operations over the crocodile and hyena-infested wild river in the Narok region West paid off yesterday when deep-sea divers from the Coast found a body thought to be that of the driver who drowned.

One decomposing half-body, thought to be that of the driver, was discovered yesterday near the banks of Tangulia Camp, 100 kilometres west of the station, and was subsequently transferred to Longisa mortuary for forensics. Still, uncertainty is rife, with each family claiming ownership.

Three men apparently drowned on that dreadful day, but one escaped and is now stable under bed rest at Nairobi's Kenyatta Hospital.

The ground operation, on the other hand, comprises Narok County Government forest, game rangers, and locals.
