Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot has chastised President William Ruto for being fixated on inheriting a failing economy from previous President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, have been quoted multiple times as claiming they "inherited a dilapidated economy" from Mr Kenyatta, implying that Kenyans will need more time and patience before seeing the effects of the Kenya Kwanza administration.

However, the outspoken lawyer and former presidential aspirant believe President Ruto's administration should take a page from Kenya's third president, the late Mwai Kibaki, who, he claims, was focused on transforming the country rather than lamenting about the governance of the country his acquired from President Daniel Moi.

"Let us stop apologizing for our current and past problems." The distinction between this administration and Kibaki's is that Kibaki did not become fixated on the fact that he inherited the Moi dictatorship. "He never kept reminding us that Moi did this and that," Dr Aukot remarked Thursday.

"The less you talk about Uhuru Kenyatta and his administration, the more hope you give Kenyans that you are actually doing anything about it," he continued.

He was on Citizen TV's Day Break with Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi and Nominated MP John Mbadi.

Governor Wamatangi compared the country to a plane taking off, saying it is too early to measure Ruto's administration's success.

"There were things that were done differently and wrongly (after Kibaki left office)," Wamatangi remarked.
