Speaking at Gesima in Nyamira county, Nyamira county commissioner Michael Lesmam urged residents and local leaders to work with the government to ensure development.

Lesmam said there is a need for all the elected leaders to work with President William Ruto’s government for the sake of their people.

The commissioner said despite the political affiliations before the August 9, general elections, there is now a government in place.

“We do not want to stick to our past, now that we have a government, let's put our differences aside and work with the government so that our people can get services," he said.

"That is why all our leaders should play the important role in ensuring that we are all united for a common course," he said.

“We all voted for the leaders we wanted and we now have a government in place. We encourage our leaders to work with the government of the day as that is the only way to realize development for our region."

On the issue of an additional constituency, the county commissioner said leaders will have to sit down with the national government to find a way forward.
“There were proposals to have an additional constituency, your leaders who will follow it up with the national government,” Lesmam added.
