On December 27, Raila Odinga had his first comprehensive interview with the local media since he lost in the August 9 2022 general election.

Speaking in an interview with Trevor Ombija of Citizen TV, Mr. Odinga reacted to various issues that have been trending and clarified things that have remained in darkness for a long time.

Odinga defended former president Uhuru Kenyatta, and the narrative that has been trending is that he did little to assist him to win the election. He said Chebukati is a criminal who belongs in jail.

The opposition leader dismissed what Azimio chief Agent Saitabao Kanchory said regarding Azimio. Mr. Odinga referred to it as absolute rubbish! Ole Kanchory in the recent past explained how Junet Mohamed and Makau Mutua made Azimio lose. He said the blame should be sent to where it belongs. The opposition leader said that the votes were stolen in the tallying center.

Odinga last year asked Kenyans to prepare for a constitutional review. He claimed that the current constitution which is 12 years old is far much outdated and needs a review. Mr. Odinga said there is a possibility of bringing BBI back.

Well, seems Raila is a man of his word. Early this year he launched rallies across the country. Just recently, the former prime minister led a group of Kenyans in a protest on Monday and he insists the protests will continue.

March 2023 Protest

Several young people were detained as they got ready to join the Azimio la Umoja leaders in their planned protests in the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD), close to the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

The young men gathered outside the KICC, where the leaders of the Azimio la Umoja movement were supposed to start their march. The arrests were made when some of them allegedly tried to enter KICC.
