According to a listing on Apple's App Store, Meta Platforms has disclosed its plans to introduce a microblogging app called Threads shortly after Twitter executive chair Elon Musk announced a temporary limitation on the number of posts users can read on the popular social media site.

Threads, an app focused on text-based conversations, is set to launch on Thursday. It will enable users to conveniently follow the same accounts they currently engage with on Instagram's photo-sharing platform while retaining their existing usernames.

Meta Platforms has intentionally introduced Threads, a microblogging software, in response to Twitter's recent disclosure of several restrictions for its service, such as the requirement for using TweetDeck to be verified.

However, Elon Musk's latest announcements to combat data scraping came at the wrong time, and Twitter users have responded negatively. The authority of Twitter's recently appointed CEO, Linda Yaccarino, who took over the role just last month, has been deemed vulnerable by advertising specialists due to these measures.

Meta did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment on a similar launch on the Google Play Store.
