105,542 people have been vaccinated against cholera in Taita Taveta County.

According to the Health officer in charge of Vaccination in Tana River County Mr Billy Mukamba, they had targeted to vaccinate 120,000 people in the exercise.

 The first cholera outbreak case was reported on October 12, 2022. Seventeen people have lost their lives due to the disease in the County so far.

Speaking at Hola County Referral Hospital, the Health Officer noted that 757 people were affected with the disease in Bura Constituency making it a target for a vaccination campaign that started on February 10 to 20, and 23.

Further, Mukamba noted that the turnout was good because it recorded 87 per cent of those vaccinated said the doses have not run out therefore, those pockets areas that were not covered during the exercise will continue.

He called on the area residents to insure their environmental conditions were clean and that they boiled drinking water to avoid cholera
