Agha Khan Health Service on Saturday opened a medical facility in Kimilili, Bungoma County as demand for healthcare services grows.

The facility is located along Posta Street next to Phim Kindergarten primary school.

Aga Khan Hospital Kisumu marketing officer Maureen Khamala said that the decision was taken because most of their clients travel to Kisumu and Eldoret for medical services.

“Our intention is to bring services closer to the people to reduce costs and traveling long distances,” she said.

Khamala said that the facility will prioritise improving public health systems through partnerships.

She said that the vision of Aga Khan Health Services is to create efficient and appropriate health systems that improve the health of individuals and populations in the low and middle classes.

Khamala added that the Aga Khan Hospital will train and continue educating nurses, doctors, and other health professionals.

Further, she noted that available services include general medication, nursing services, laboratory services, pharmacy, and a mother and child health clinic.

The facility will be operational Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.; on Saturday, it will open between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. and close on Sundays and public holidays.
