Kisii police apprehended an illicit shipment of marijuana valued at over Ksh. 11 million on Sunday according to DCI. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that the contraband was en route to Kilgoris in a white Toyota Prado when vigilant officers observed the vehicle laden with dubious cargo.
“The officers signaled the driver of the vehicle to stop but he defied the orders and sped off at breakneck speed and upon reaching Magena area, he made a quick U-turn back towards Kanyenye,” read part of a statement from DCI.

Following the abandonment of the car in the Metembe region, the driver reportedly fled on foot. Subsequently, law enforcement officers confiscated the vehicle and discovered around 379 kilograms of marijuana, with an estimated value of Ksh 11 million.
“Six sacks and fifteen bales of leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa all weighing 379Kgs were recovered,” DCI reported.
The vehicle was transported to the Kenyenye Police Station, and the narcotics were seized for further investigation.
