Police in Nakuru County are investigating an incident in which a 57-year-old man died in a hotel room he had booked with a 21-year-old girl.

According to a police statement, the deceased, Geoffrey Njoroge Maina, checked in to the hotel at around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, in the company of the woman identified as Joy Moragwa.

The woman is said to have returned to the lobby several hours later, at 5 o'clock, and informed the receptionist that the male was having "difficulty in breathing."

Later on, the man would be discovered dead on the bed.

"This prompted her to seek help from the police. The scene was visited, processed and documented by officers from Kaptembwo Police Station and DCI Nakuru West and found the body lying on the bed with no visible physical injuries," reads the police statement in part.

The body was moved to Nakuru County Municipal Morgue pending post-mortem.
