Anne Adhiambo, the main suspect in the murder of Eric Maigo, the finance director of Nairobi Hospital, has pleaded guilty.

When she appeared before High Court Judge Kaanyi Kimondo on Thursday to enter a plea, the charges were read to her three times in Swahili. She kept saying, "Ni Ukweli."

The suspect is an adult with good mental health, the prosecution informed the court.

She was told of the possible outcomes by the court as she entered her plea and was given time to consult with her attorneys.

"Nakupa muda zaidi Ndio uweze kuongea na wakili wako ambaye Yuko mahakamani mzungumze wakuelezee vizuri kile unachoambia mahakama ...," the judge said.

She is now expected to enter another plea in the Kibera law courts, where the case has been referred.

She will be detained at the Langata Women's Prison until the matter is brought up on November 8.

Adhiambo was charged on Wednesday, and the prosecution asked to keep the suspects in custody while the investigation was ongoing.

The court was informed at the time that bloodstains from the murder scene and CCTV footage, both crucial to the case, had not yet been examined.

On October 15, early in the morning, in the Jamhuri neighborhood of Nairobi, Adhiambo was seen on security footage fleeing the scene of Maigo's murder.

After detectives' efforts were supported by members of the public who provided information on her whereabouts, she was taken into custody at Olympic in Kibra.

Adhiambo is suspected of being responsible for the horrific killing of Maigo, whose lifeless body was discovered in his home with 25 stab wounds.
