A 21-year-old man was on Thursday sentenced to 15 years in prison for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl in the Kibarani area of Jomvu Sub County between March and November 2021.
Senior Resident Magistrate David Odhiambo convicted the accused, Isaac Juma Odhiambo, of the charges leveled against him.
In a statement by the Director of Public Prosecution, Magistrate Odhaimbo ruled that five prosecution witnesses adduced compelling evidence.
“In his ruling, Magistrate David Odhiambo stated that the accused failed to unshackle himself from the offence due to the magnitude of the evidence adduced by five prosecution witnesses,” stated the DPP.
“The court stated that the prosecution, through Senior Prosecution Counsel Barbara Sombo discharged its burden of proof before proceeding to jail the accused.”
