Ugandan troops have effectively eliminated 11 militants, among them the attackers who were responsible for the tragic deaths of two tourists and their guide at the Queen Elizabeth National Park last month. This information was conveyed in a statement by a spokesperson for the army.

The victims of the 17 October attack were British citizen David Barlow and his South African wife Emmaretia Geyer, who were on their honeymoon. The attack was orchestrated by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).

Tragically, on October 17th, Ugandan tour guide Eric Alyai lost his life, leaving behind his wife and one-year-old child. In the aftermath of the incident, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) promptly launched an extensive operation to locate and bring to justice the militants responsible.
UPDF spokesperson Lt Col Deo Akiiki confirmed that the assailants were effectively neutralized on Tuesday night in the vicinity of Lake Edward, near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.

“It should be noted that this was a part of the group that killed the tourists. The operation is still on to finish all the splinter groups of ADF,” he said.
The Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) is a rebel group affiliated with the Islamic State, known for its activities in western Uganda, but primarily active in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In a devastating attack in June, ADF insurgents launched a surprise assault on a Ugandan school, resulting in the tragic loss of 41 young lives.
