Police officers in Turitu village, Kiambu County, have arrested a woman who went on the run after beating her 8-year-old daughter to death with an electric cord.

Aggrey Kidake, who works as a security guard, said that when he returned home from work at about 8 a.m. on Monday, he discovered the child sleeping alongside his children. he noted that this was not unusual as the girl would go to his house every time her mother beat her.

Kidake indicated that he returned the girl to her home and left and that at about 12 p.m., Neighbours contacted him, requesting that he rush because her child had fallen and needed to be taken to the hospital.

He claimed that when he got to the house, the girl had soiled herself, her clothing was bloodstained, and she was pleading for water.

When the medics inquired what happened, the girl's mother lied, telling them that she fell and sustained the injuries. Further investigation of the girl's body at the funeral home revealed that she had several bruises.

Elizabeth Nyambura, a neighbor, said that the woman assaulted her child on several occasions.

The mother of the girl is also accused of breaking her son's legs when he was a child. The boy was later removed from her custody and is currently staying g in a children's home.

According to Lucy Njoki, the deceased's grandmother, the woman ended her relationship with her son, the girl's father, because she was beating him, and they couldn't stay together any longer.

The woman is currently detained at Kiambu police station.
