Police officers have launched a probe into the murder of a boda boda rider whose body was found inside a pit latrine near St. Pantaleon Catholic Parish in Siaya town.

Police suspect the rider of being murdered by unknown people before being stuffed inside the pit toilet.

The body, which had significant slashes all over the skull, was discovered by one Alex Owino Okong'o, who raised the alarm before the police arrived, according to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo.

According to the County Police chief, the body was sent to the Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary to await a postmortem and identification, and inquiries into the case had already commenced.

"Officers were unable to determine the identity of the boda boda rider at the scene." The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is conducting investigations, and any developments will be reported, according to Mr Kimaiyo.
