In Chepter village, West Pokot County, a four-year-old boy tragically lost his life on Thursday as a result of an alleged banditry attack.

According to a police report detailing the incident, the bandits broke into the minor's family home and shot him in the head. He passed away right away.

"A combined team of officers from Chesegon OPS camp and ASTU Chesegon visited the scene and it was established that the suspected bandits shot the male juvenile, aged 4 years, while at their home," according to the police report.

Since then, the boy's body has been transferred to Kapenguria Level 4 Hospital while the murder investigation is ongoing.

The incident occurred just four days after a reported standoff between cattle rustlers, and locals resulted in the deaths of six people at Lochacha village in West Pokot County.

Three residents who were chasing the cattle rustlers were reportedly shot and killed by KDF agents who were chasing the bandits. Nonetheless, locals could eliminate three cattle rustlers who had absconded with an unspecified quantity of goats.

West Pokot County Police Commander Peter Katam confirmed the incident and stated that investigations had begun. He also promised to impose strict penalties on those involved in criminal activity.
