Suicides have been on the rise in several parts of the country, prompting calls to address the problem.

Kenya has launched a campaign to combat the threat.

According to police, the trend is concerning and growing, with up to two cases reported daily.

According to the World Health Organization, such cases are caused by unemployment, death, academic failures or pressures, legal difficulties, and financial difficulties.

Other reasons include bullying, previous suicide attempts, a family history of suicide, alcoholism and substance abuse, depression, and bipolar disorder.

Suicide is classified as a serious global public health issue by the WHO, ranking among the top 20 leading causes of death worldwide.

Kenya is ranked 114th out of 175 countries with the highest suicide rates.
