A family is in mourning after a Form Two student was killed and five other family members injured in a robbery incident on Saturday in Ebate Village Nyamira County.

The parents of the 17-year-old are admitted to the hospital nursing injuries sustained during the attack.

 Robert Sitima, the homeowner, says the gang descended on them with crude weapons and killed his son outside the house before making away with electronics and cash.

“Huyo kijana alipata watu hapo nje na akapiga tochi na hakuwa wanajua huyo ni nani, na wakampiga kisu na alitoa sauti tu moja akasema mama hawa wameniua, na hawa watu walimkata kata mpaka panga ikakatika ika kwama kwa mwili,” Sitima said.

Police have said that investigations into the robbery have commenced.

“Walikuja round ingine 2019 alafu wakasema hatukai kukaa hapa tunafaa tuhame na ata alama hii niko nayo nilipata 2019 walipokuja hapa,” a victim Lister Nyakerrario lamented.

James Ndege, the victim’s kin while calling for the government intervention added: “Hawa majambazi wamekuja hapa hii ni mara ya nne juu wanakuja wanawaibia, wanawaumiza na kuwakatakata na tunataka serikali ijaribu ifanye uchunguzi na ishike hawa watu.”
