Police in Elgeyo Marakwet's Chesoi station have launched a search for suspects who attacked and killed a police officer after rescuing six girls who had undergone Female Genital Mutilation.
According to police, unknown individuals attacked the officer who had rescued the girls after they had been mutilated, pelting him with stones and blunt weapons until he died, then burned his body and fled with a G3 rifle and 40 rounds of ammunition.
The officers who took the girls to their station in Chesoi are said to have agitated the residents.
Officers are determined to apprehend the suspects who are still on the loose.
