A 34-year-old woman is being treated at Kakamega General Hospital under police guard after allegedly throwing herself and her two-year-old twins into the Isukhu River at the border of Shinyalu and Lurambi in Kakamega county.
The woman's family, led by the children's grandmother, Lilian Itsiambo, claims she left Mukulusu for her rural home to attend a burial ceremony.
They claim they later learned that their loved one was witnessed jumping into the river with her babies.
