A 26-year-old man has been detained at Sega police station after being arrested in Ugenya sub-county for reportedly possessing seven sacks of bhang.

The man, identified as Jared Okoyo Abucheri, was riding his motorbike along the Sega-Ugunja route when police officers stopped him on patrol.

The authorities stopped the speeding suspect and discovered that the luggage he was carrying was several brooms of cannabis sativa that were put in the seven sacks.

Mr. Cleti Kimaiyo, Siaya County Police Commander, confirmed the suspect's detention, stating that he will be prosecuted and charged with possessing an illegal substance.

In Rarieda sub-county, officers from Madiany Police Station, in collaboration with the Assistant Chief of Katweng'a sub-location, Mr. Esau Oduru, arrested a 24-year-old man who had 1 liter of chang'aa and eight bottles of 250 milliliters of blue moon second generation liquor.

The suspect, identified as Alex Juma Wekesa, was apprehended near Kopiata Beach and taken to the Madiany Police Station.

Mr. Cleti Kimaiyo, Siaya County Police Commander, confirmed the occurrence and indicated that the man will be arraigned at Madiany Law Courts on Monday.
