Six protestors against the early Thursday killing of a land surveyor outside his home in the K24 area by unidentified assailants have been detained by police in Narok town.
The protestors, angered by the murder of land surveyor Dickson Nkamasai, barricaded the busy Narok-Bomet road and engaged police in running battles for the better part of Thursday.
They pointed out that there was a general feeling of insecurity in the area and blamed it on the police not doing enough to stop criminal activity.
After that, the demonstrators gave police a 12-hour window in which to find Nkamasai's killer.

Narok County Commissioner Isaac Masinde confirmed the incident and stated that police have opened investigations. He advised resentful citizens to be calm and let the legal system handle matters.
Leaders of Narok County met on Thursday at a hotel in Nairobi, where they denounced the incident and urged the Inspector General of Police to strengthen security in the region.
The leaders further demand that the government construct floodlights and a police post in K24 to ward off criminals who have turned the area into their operating area.
Narok East MP Lemanken Aramat said: "Tunataka kuambia security team ya Narok tumelia kwa muda na we need kazi ifanywe once and for all."
His Narok North counterpart Agnes Pareyio said: “Tumekutana hapa tukitaka kujua ni kwa nini, ni nani analalia kazi yake, ni nani hafanyi kazi yake...kwa sababu hatuezi kunyamaza kama watu wetu wanakufa na ni vijana wanakufa.”
"We want to call on the residents of Narok to be calm and not to take action on their hands because we have a government that is willing to protect the lives and property of citizens," said Narok West legislator Gabriel Tongoyo.
