After rancher Lucy Wambui Jennings of Laikipia was shot on Sunday, six people have been taken into custody.

Benjamin Muhia, the commander of Laikipia West Sub-County Police, reports that officers are pursuing additional suspects and attempting to recover the gun that was used in the shooting incident.

The 50-year-old rancher was shot in the back of her head and her arm by the attackers while she was traveling to church; she is presently receiving medical attention in the hospital.

The victim of the shooting has been involved in legal disputes with grazers who are not authorized to be on the ranch, as stated by the Rumuruti Business Community, which denounces the incident.

Locals demand that the government send more National Police Reservists to remove illegal grazers who have unlicensed firearms.
