Two people have been found guilty of being members of the terrorist group Al-Shabaab.

According to Milimani Court senior principal magistrate Zainab Abdul, the state has proven that Abdimajit Hassan Adan and Mohammed Osman Nane have links to and are members of a terrorist group located in Somalia.

The suspects were convicted of nine counts, including possessing 36 hand grenades and AK 47 rifles.

Hassan and Osman were caught in Isiolo on February 15, 2018, while on their way to Nairobi with trucks containing homemade explosives.

Meanwhile, Lydiah Nyawira was convicted of forgery. Nyawira is accused of forging a national ID under the name Jirma Huka Galgalo (dead), a member of Al Shabaab.

Conversely, the court acquitted Nyawira's supervisor, Francis Macharia, due to lack of evidence.

The sixth accused, John Maina Kiarii, died while being treated at Kenyatta National Hospital. In his defense, Hassan claimed to be an international camel merchant who sold animals in Somalia and Dubai.

He claimed that the camels will go 40 to 60 days to Somalia. On the other hand, Osman stated that he was a Madrassa teacher from Moyale, where he was born, and had been to Nairobi for a livestock census.

He claimed he met Hassan in Nairobi and Isiolo, where they were arrested. Osman stated that he had never been to Somalia and was not a member of Al-Shabaab.

On February 15, 2018, they were charged in the first count with conspiracy to commit a terrorist act in violation of the law.
