Police officers have netted and destroyed over 3,500 liters of illicit brew in Kimilili Sub-County, Bungoma County in the ongoing countrywide crackdown.
According to Kimilili Sub-County Police Commander (SCPC) Mwita Maroa, the cooperation between the officers and the area residents largely contributed to the arrest of the culprits who were engaging in the making of the brew.
Speaking at Kamukuywa, where the brew was destroyed, Maroa asked politicians in the area to be at the forefront in educating the public on the dangers of illicit brew to win the fight against the vice in the area.
Further, he said that many families’ lives had been destroyed due to their breadwinners' indulgence in the brew alongside disease outbreaks in the homes.
Maroa pointed out that taking of the illicit brew had made the area lag in development, thus the need for concerted efforts amongst all stakeholders to end the making of the brew in the area.
