Police and the provincial government have opened an investigation into the death of a 78-year-old woman who was found dead in her home in Akoko Village, Migori County.

When Gaudensia Akumu Madanje's grandson returned home for lunch, he discovered her body lying in the house, according to Area Assistant Chief John Kerry Otieno.

According to Otieno, the grandson told him that the grandmother was in good health when he spoke with her before he left for school in the morning.

According to the assistant chief for the area, they believe a groundman killed an older woman from Tanzania.

He claimed that the deceased's body bore numerous injuries and that there was proof of her struggle with the murderer before her passing.

According to Otieno, the primary suspect, the groundsman, fled to an unidentified hiding place and claimed his whereabouts were still unknown. He argued that the killing's motivation was still unknown.

In the meantime, the assistant chief for the area has urged the people living there to ensure they record the information of anyone they hire to work as a maid or groundskeeper.

He said the information should also be shared with the local chief to facilitate tracing such incidents. According to Otieno, the deceased's family is unaware of specific details about the Tanzanian prime suspect.
