A 61-year-old man was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts on Tuesday for impersonating an advocate of the High Court.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Simon Githu Mbugua wrote and forwarded a demand letter for an unsuspecting member of the public who had been defrauded Kes 20,000 while pretending to be Winny A. Ochwal Advocates.
Mbugua was arrested on Monday, 19, 2024, at Muindi Mbingu Street in Nairobi CBD.
A search in his office at Kimathi House also led to the recovery of a stamp reading WINNY A. OCHWAL ADVOCATES, which is believed to be the one he used in his mischief.
Mbugua has been 100,000 cash bail pending further mention on March 5.
