A mob in Siaya County on Friday evening killed a suspected thief after he reportedly stole a mobile phone.
"He was lynched by irate members of the public near Sinaga along Siaya-Luanda road in Gem Yala on Friday evening," Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said.
According to Kimaiyo, the identified suspect succumbed to his injuries at Yala Sub County Hospital, where he was rushed for treatment.
"Officers from Yala police station received a report that the suspected phone snatcher was being subjected to mob injustice.”
The suspect’s body has been moved to the hospital’s morgue, awaiting autopsy and identification.
