Police officers at the Obambo trading center in the Alego/Usonga sub-county rescued a man from being heated to death by an angry mob after being found in possession of fake currency.
On Sunday evening, the suspect allegedly attempted to trade with the false money in one of the trading center's shops.
Carmen Ambajo, Assistant Chief of Obambo Sub-location, reported the incident to Siaya Police Station.

According to a police incident record, Ambajo indicated that the business owner rang the alarm, and the suspect fled. He was cornered a few meters away, and a crowd jumped on him.
Officers from the Siaya police station went to the site, rescued the suspect in severe condition, and transported him to the Siaya County referral hospital, where he is presently being treated.
Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo confirmed the event, stating that the suspect had bruises on his face and head, blood seeping from his right ear, and was vomiting blood when police rescued him.
He added that the suspect was also found in possession of Ksh. 16,500 in counterfeit money in various denominations of one thousand and five hundred notes, which was recovered and kept as evidence.
