A 13-year-old girl who is suspected of killing a classmate at Divine Care Nursery and Primary School in Uganda has been taken into custody by police.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga confirmed the incident and stated that the fight started as a result of an altercation between the accused and another girl.

The two girls, who are Sudanese nationals, were getting water when the altercation started at the boarding portion of the school.

Tensions reportedly reached a breaking point, at which point the suspect grabbed the victim by the neck and strangled her. The victim was pushed hard to the ground and became unconscious, making the situation worse.

After being taken to St. Mary's Hospital Lacor, the victim was pronounced dead.
