The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) wants DJ Joe Mfalme and six others to be held for 21 days as they finalize investigations into the death of a senior police officer.
Allan Ochieng, Eric Kariuki Gathua, Simon Wambugu Wanjiru, Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Cheruiyot Rotich, and Agnes Kerubo Mogoiare are accused of attacking DCI officer Felix Kelian on March 16, 2024. The cop later died from his injuries on March 21, 2024.
"The scene was visited by the fifth respondent attached to Kikuyu police station and found the deacesed being beaten by the respondents before he was taken to the police station," the prosecution said.

Appearing before the Kibra Law Court on a miscellaneous motion, the prosecution stated that the accused suspects constitute a flight risk and should be kept until the investigations are concluded.
"The sixth and the seventh respondents are also police officers at Kikuyu police station and on the material day they were at the reporting desk and they received the deceased who complained of injuries and also witnessed the deceased urinating blood in the police station toilet," the prosecution said.
The prosecution wants to hold the accused in Kabete, Muthangari, and Riruta police stations so that they may record further testimonies from witnesses, particularly those who speak Kikuyu.
The court was informed that they might easily tamper with investigations.
"It is fair and just that this Honorable Court grant the orders prayed so that the investigating officer may gather sufficient evidence on this matter, including recording relevant witnesses' statements, obtaining treatment records from the hospital, obtaining CCTV footage of the crime scene, call data records of the respondents, and arresting another suspect who is still at large," the court was told.
