On Saturday, militant Mwendwa Kitute, a politician who had been tricking Kenyans by posing as Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) representatives, was taken into custody.

According to a statement obtained by Waza News, the man who was named as "an armed and dangerous criminal" was discovered to have been using the identities of senior EACC officials to issue fictitious Integrity Clearance Certificates to job seekers for a fee.

The person in question reportedly has a past of convictions and made an unsuccessful bid for a parliamentary seat in the general elections of 2022.

"The suspect, Militonic Mwendwa Kitute, was tracked by EACC Detectives from Nairobi to his Kitui home where he was arrested on Saturday 4am. His firearm and 7 mobile phones are among items confiscated from him," the statement reads.

Today, Monday, April 22, he is scheduled to be arraigned at Milimani Law Courts after being escorted to Kilimani Police Station.
