Detectives have arrested 177 people believed to be part of a criminal gang terrorizing residents in Mombasa.
This comes after the business community expressed concerns about the rise of criminal gangs that have left them counting losses.
CCTV footage from a roadway in Mombasa's Central Business District (CBD) recorded a bunch of criminal gang members robbing unsuspecting citizens earlier this week.

Alice Nkirote, her husband, James Njilu, and their two children are homeless and have lost millions of shillings when a criminal group set fire to their home and company on April 3, 2024.
"Kitu muhimu kwao ilikuwa ni pesa, kile walikuwa kinawafaa wanatupora wanachukua wanakupiga hawataki kujua kama wewe ni binadamu, haja yao pesa," according to Nkirote.
Njilu was quoted as saying: "Sina anything kwa ajili duka imeharibiwa kila kitu, kile naomba ni serikali kama inaweza kunisaidia ili nipate haki wale watu wasiachiliwe na wasifanyie mtu kitendo walichonifanyia."
"Pa kulala hakuna, tunafanya kusaidiwa, twalala kwa jirani sahii, hatuna mahali pa kukaa, hatuna chakula chochote, tukipata mtu atusaidie ndio tunakula," Nkirote was quoted as saying.
Mombasa County Commissioner Mohammed Noor said the crackdown will continue in Kisauni, Nyal, Jomvu, and Mvita. he advised parents to keep a close tab on their children's activities.
