A 36-year-old man has died after being brutally beaten by an angry mob for allegedly being a chicken thief in Siaya County.
The guy was accused of stealing poultry from Diraho hamlet, which is located in the Doho West sub-location of Ugenya.
Emmanuel Otieno Ong'wen was confirmed dead at the Ukwala Sub County Hospital after being transported for treatment.
Cleti Kimaiyo, Siaya County Police Commander, said the incident was reported at the Ukwala police station.
"The incident was reported by the area's Assistant Chief Henry Oduor. "The man was rescued from the angry mob but later died," Kimaiyo stated.
Kimaiyo claimed that the suspect's corpse, which had extensive slashes, was brought to the facility's mortuary for an autopsy and additional investigation.
