Police in Nyatike are investigating the death of a three-year-old boy who was allegedly killed by his father, who then died by suicide in Magungu, Migori County.
Confirming the incident, Acting Chief Mr.Zacheus Odero said their preliminary investigations have proved that the father flogged the boy during the fight that broke up between him and the mother on the night of Friday, July 12, 2024.
Upon realizing that he had killed the son, the man hanged himself inside the house.
Further, he revealed that the deceased made a call to one of his relatives on the fateful night after the wife escaped from the fight, asking him to pursue the wife to come back and take the child to the hospital, but the frightened wife did not show up.
Further, he said the deceased’s wife, who spent the night in the neighborhood, came back later and found the door locked from inside.

Odera said the family later realized that the man had died by suicide and the son had also succumbed.
He said the deceased accused of killing the boy had just stayed with the wife for one month only.
The bodies of the two have been taken to Migori level four hospital mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.
