Former Keiyo South MP Daniel Ronoh appeared in an Eldoret Court accused of brokering a prime residential plot deal for a senior Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) employee, Godfrey Ofunya Omondi, that failed to materialize over a decade ago.

The disputed property is located in the Elgon View estate and is valued at Ksh.20 million. It was intended for house construction.

Ronoh, appearing before Presiding Lands Court Judge Elijah Obaga, revealed that he conducted due diligence before connecting Omondi with the plot's owner, Julie Kandie. Despite this, the property's legal ownership is now contested.

Operating through his company, Maestro Properties Limited, which has offices in Eldoret and Nairobi, Ronoh stated he facilitated prime plot deals for clients. In March 2010, Omondi approached him to secure a plot in Eldoret, promising a commission upon completion.

Ronoh recounted that he received Ksh. 800,000 from Omondi, which he paid to Kandie, splitting the amount into Ksh. 400,000 in cash and the remaining Ksh. 400,000 via her bank account. However, he could not provide evidence of the cash payment.

Kandie denies selling her plot to Omondi, labeling the transaction as fraudulent. Judge Obaga has summoned the Land Registrar of Uasin Gishu to clarify the property's ownership in court on September 26, 2024.
