Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two high school students, one aged 17 in Form 4 and the other aged 16 in Form 3, transporting large amounts of bhang from Busia to Nairobi.

According to the detectives, they got a tip about the alleged traffickers traveling on a Guardian Angel bus. The detectives discovered five bales of cannabis weighing a total of 23 kilograms with a street value of Ksh 690,000.

"The two were traveling on a Guardian Angel bus, registration number KCW 073X, destined for Nairobi from Busia when their illicit cargo was discovered," DCI noted

"Acting on a tip-off, a vigilant multi-agency team stationed at the Suo roadblock intercepted the bus. A meticulous search ensued, leading to the discovery of five bales of cannabis, weighing a total of 23 kilograms, cleverly concealed in the students’ bags. The street value of the seized cannabis is estimated at Shs690,000." DCI added.

The suspects are currently being held at the Busia police station, awaiting processing and a court appearance.
