Newly released footage from the July 13 assassination attempt on Donald Trump shows the intense moment an officer was lifted onto the roof where shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks had positioned himself.

The body cam footage, captured during a rally in Butler, PA, provides a dramatic view from the perspective of the officer who confronted Crooks on the roof of the American Glass Research Building.

The video, which lasts six minutes, begins with two minutes of silent footage showing the officer being hoisted onto the roof. This officer later reported that Crooks pointed an AR-15-style rifle at him. Following the encounter, the officer dropped to the ground and urgently radioed in that the suspect was armed with a "long gun."

In the footage, the officer is only on the roof for a few seconds before he jumps down and sprints away. Crooks is not visible in this portion of the video.

The officer then circles around the building towards the stage where Trump was speaking. Although there is no sound, the timestamp in the video indicates this is the moment when Crooks began firing, at 6:11 PM.

The officer returns to his squad car, retrieves a more powerful weapon, and coordinates with additional backup. Amidst the chaos, law enforcement ascends back to the roof, where they find the shooter dead.

Ultimately, the officer reaches the roof and discovers Crooks' lifeless body, lying next to the gun he used to target Trump.
